ESGS 2018

The Electronic Sports and Gaming Summit is back this year and had the weekend rocking with lots stuff for fans of all ages! The event was held at the SMX Convention Center near SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City.

Gaming-related stuff is a given, but there are also other exhibitors as well. There's the Artist Alley where you can buy original illustration and fan arts (I think they also do commissions), A food park where you can buy stuff to eat (they don't allow food and water upon entry, but some exhibitors are giving away energy drinks and chips for free), Merchandise area for your Anime and Gaming souvenirs and and area where you can play tabletop games like Magic the Gathering.

I don't know if these are used for Table-top games. Image from the ESGS Facebook page.

If you need some new gears, Redragon and MSI are also there selling stuff.

I'm still good. No need to replace my peripherals yet.

Cosplay

Of course, we can also expect cosplay for events like this. Going around in a costume seems to be pretty tiring though. Other gamers/event-goers will sometimes ask to take a photo and that will take a good chunk of your time if you are checking all the booths inside. Nonetheless, seeing cosplay adds value to the event.

Barangay 143

There's also this booth for Barangay 143. For those of you wondering, Barangay 143 is a Filipino-made anime television series currently airing on GMA Network. They have this "Fiesta" theme going on and they also sell traditional Filipino snacks.

Local Game Tournaments

The exhibitors also held their own mini tournaments. I saw a League of Legends community match at the Logitech booth/area. They also hosted a League of Legends worlds viewing after their tourney. There's a lot of Tekken matches being held as well.

Game Demos

Of course, a gaming convention will not be complete without game demos! The most popular I think is the Resident Evil demo since the line did not disappear up until closing time. There's also several demos for some Filipino-made games as well like Bayani and Project Xandata.

Until next year

Overall I believe the whole event is a success and better compared to last year. I just hope there's a venue much closer to home next time because I'm not a fan of travelling long distances.  In any case, I'm looking forward to next years ESGS.
